BALCO CONCLUDES SUSTAINABILITY MONTH 2026 WITH PARTICIPATION OF OVER 2,6
Jagran Times, Balco Nagar, October 30, 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a subsidiary of Vedanta Aluminium, successfully concluded its Sustainability Month 2026 with the participation of over 2,600 people, including employees, business partners, their families, students and community members. The month-long campaign featured a series of awareness initiatives, community engagement activities and interactive events aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainable development. The objective was to encourage people to make sustainability not just a subject of discussion, but an integral part of their professional and everyday lives.

Throughout the month, several activities were organised, including a community orchard plantation drive, pond rejuvenation initiatives, seed ball-making activities and a street play titled ‘Mausam Ka Hisaab’. Engaging safety-related activities and community programmes further highlighted the importance of environmental protection, responsible behaviour and collective participation. The campaign culminated in a Sustainability Carnival, providing students with an opportunity to learn about and understand their responsibility towards the environment.
More than 800 students participated in the carnival, where activities such as waste segregation, biodiversity awareness sessions and seed ball-making were organised. Interactive programmes also focused on environmental responsibility, social commitment and improved practices. A gardening awareness session, organised in collaboration with the Forest Department, highlighted the importance of native, medicinal and other useful plants. Activities such as pottery-making and Kosa weaving also showcased the connection between traditional art forms, local culture and sustainable livelihoods.
The carnival also featured an exhibition of products made by women entrepreneurs, self-help groups and local producer groups. The initiative highlighted the role of sustainability in promoting local products, strengthening women’s livelihoods and preserving traditional art and cultural heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, BALCO Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director, Mr. Rajesh Singh, said, “Sustainability means making decisions today that ensure a better future for generations to come. Industries have an important role to play in India’s development journey. We must pursue growth that is not only economically strong but also inclusive for society and responsible towards the environment. At BALCO, we believe that sustainability is not limited to processes and targets; it is an integral part of our mindset and work culture. Sustainability Month is an effort to take this vision forward and inspire every individual to contribute towards building a responsible and resilient future.”
Through Sustainability Month 2026, BALCO reiterated its commitment to promoting sustainable development across its operations and surrounding communities. The initiative encouraged people to make environmentally conscious choices, embrace collective responsibility and adopt small yet meaningful changes in their everyday lives.
